A large project, with 35 years of history, Humana Fundación Pueblo para Pueblo has been promoting environmental protection through the reuse of textiles since 1987 and carries out international development cooperation programmes in Africa, Latin America and Asia and local support, awareness-raising and urban agriculture programmes in Spain. Their vision has to with Improving the living conditions of the most disadvantaged communities on the Planet and facilitating their economic and social progress and promoting circular economy and it´s values include solidarity, sustainability and environmental awareness . It´s relevance at the national level, as promoter of the circular economy and generator of green employment has to do with its 48 shops in cities as Barcelona, Madrid, Granada and Seville, 2 plants for the recycling of textile waste in l’Ametlla del Vallès (Barcelona) and Leganés (Community of Madrid) and 5,200 containers available in Andalusia, Asturias, Castilla León, Castilla La Mancha, Catalonia, Valencia, Murcia, Galicia, Madrid, Balearic Islands, Navarre and La Rioja, which allow for the recovery of some 18.000 tons of worn clothes which are classified for diverse purposes. Humana also supports a wide number of environmental and social projects in the global south and locally. Humana sells second-hand clothes that are changed seasonally, also having vintage-specialized shops and holding sales of up to 1euro/piece 4 times a year. Their clothes are appreciated both by young/trendy publics and by families and by families with economic limitations. It also encourages people to donate their clothes at the shops. They have also created awareness-raising activities for schools and offer visits to their recycling plants.
